“Merakki,” a collection of English poems written by students of Sree Sankara Vidyapeetam, Mattannur, jointly published by Kannur district panchayat and Kairali Books, was released by T.K.D. Muzappilangad, a renowned children’s literature writer.
Under the leadership of the district panchayat, 1056 books were published last month as part of the “My School My Book” project, inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Kannur. As a part of this project, which secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, a function was organized at the school, with C.H. Mohandas manager, O. Ashok Kumar, Chairman of Kairali Books, was a distinguished guest. Dr. P.V. Jayaraj, Prof. K. Kunjikrishnan, K.M. Leela, M. Sreelatha, Sreedevi, and Shwetha Nambiar were among those who conveyed their wishes. “Merakki” is a collection of writings by about twenty students of the school.
